I had an opportunity to catch the U2 concert on Tuesday night. It was a great spectacle, as you can imagine. One of the great things about Bono and the band is they know when to take themselves seriously, and when to call what they do what it is - madness. This allows them to keep to their purpose.
Some things we do will be madness, or just for fun. That's great. But we need to distinguish between our madness and our meaning. Most of our attention should be focused on our meaning. Our madness may or may not fuel our meaning, but at least then we'll be living on purpose.
Take a minute to examine your focus, where you are spending your time and money. Are you spending too much time on your madness and not your meaning? Is your madness fueling your meaning?
