God Size

I’m sometimes puzzled by this phrase, “God-sized.” When we hear this phrase, it’s generally referring to something HUGE, astronomical, or gargantuan. Of course that is sometimes true.

But sometimes “God-sized” may not be big in the terms that we think of big. Clearly in scripture, some people are 1 talent, 5 talent, or 10 talent people. In other words, we have to be responsible with what God has given us. Everyone would like to be 10 talent people, but some people are not. The problem is, we settle. We settle for 1 talent, when we should be 10 talent folk.

Also, remember the story of the widow’s offering? She gave out of her poverty, and God said she gave more than the rich dude. Can you say “God-sized?” The disciples didn’t think so. But Jesus did.

Don’t settle for less than what God has given you. But don’t drive for more than He has for you. In that tension, you’ll find contentment.

Elio from Cuba

We had the privilege of seeing Elio and his wife Leydis, from Cuba. Elio provides training to pastors and Christian leaders in Cuba.

Elio

Leydis has on the orange shirt. Elio is the cuban looking male (smile).

Image of Sex Struggles

I knew that would get your attention. The title of Sunday's message is "Image of Sex." I'm struggling with so much info to teach on!

We'll be landing our Silhouette series. It's been great, and we have gotten great feedback from all of the creative elements and musical touches.

Hope For Guatemala

Brandon and Shanna Christensen will be back visiting next week from Guatemala. As you may know, Brandon was Stonecreek’s first baptism. We have seen him go full circle from baptism to full time Christian service. He and Shanna have moved to Guatemala for the year to help out Hope For Guatemala.

On April 28th there will be a golf tournament benefiting Hope For Guatemala at the Polo Golf and Country Club. Believe it or not, I will be playing in the tournament. I play golf about once every 2 years, so it should be an experience! I feel successful if I find more balls than I lose…

There are still some spots available. If you would like to participate, go online to register. You do not want to miss this opportunity to help Brandon as he impacts the children of Guatemala. There are some incredible things happening through this ministry, and it’s a great chance to support the Christensen’s, as well as express your generosity!

These are some pictures from our trip to Jamaica. These students and leaders knocked it out. They worked hard. These are some pictures of the work, and of the completed home with the homeowner. Way to go Stonecreek!

Checked Out

I've been checked out of the blogosphere for a while. We went to Jamaica last week with our high school students. We built 2 houses, poured 3 foundations, and moved A LOT of rocks. I’ll never look at a bag of cement or a shovel the same again. I’ll post some pics in a few days.

Also, we had a great time hosting John Eldredge last night. John is on a book tour, and spent a couple of hours talking through his book with around 1100 people. God has used the materials that his ministry produces to greatly impact my life, and it was great to be able to host that event.

Everyone who came continually talked about what a great church we had. Yeah, I know (smile). You guys rock.

Mission Trip

I’m off on Sunday with the high school students to Jamaica. We’ll build houses, and serve with Won by One in Harmons, Jamaica.

Unfortunately, I won’t get any beach time! Please pray for us – that we would be a blessing and that all of us would come back changed by God. This will be an eye-opener for many, and I’m looking forward to how God uses it in my life, and the life of our church.

Silhouette

You may have enjoyed the acoustic tune during the offering during the launch of our Silhouette series this week. This was Jeff Delbridge, a volunteer in our tech area. Also, Jeff’s wife was recently baptized at Stonecreek. He’s going to be singing most weeks during the series. He has written all of these tunes, and they fit great with our series.

I am pumped at the way God is bringing talent into our church to be used for life change. We have such a cool environment with exceptional talent, and it’s great to see more and more people involved. A big shout out to Matt Brogden and Mark Brown for the tone they are setting in worship. Worship is the most important thing we do as Christ-followers, and we want to always be very intentional about what we do.

You don’t want to miss the next 4 weeks of this relationship series. Our prayer is that God can use it in your current and future relationships!

Welcome
